Massachusetts Weird or American Normal?

One of the inspirations for Massachusetts Weird came from experiences at UMass Boston, Go Beacons! Yes. Our mascot was a Beacon. The campus is on Boston Ha’bah, it kind of makes sense (??). During my time as an undergrad at UMass Boston (the Clinton years), the average age of students was ~28 and 75% worked at least part-time. It was the Boston City public school for higher education. There were no dorms. Everyone commuted. We were hard-working (and half nuts) and determined to get our degrees in order to better our lives. During the Bush years I realized that of my classmates, almost everyone had taken out student loans but not everyone had graduated. And of those that did graduate, they did not all have jobs that needed a college degree. So what does this mean?
